Meant To Be

Meant To Be
What ended up being the background for this piece was actually a painting that was created before finding the piece of washed-up seaweed. The two were meant to be together! Hand stitched accents bind them into one cohesive work of art.
While on a long weekend trip to a friend’s beach house I love to take a run on the beach in the mornings. I also take paint supplies with me so I can create ocean inspired art. This time I painted this green and blue image to resemble seaweed. I love depicting things in an abstract way. After I finished painting, I took that morning run and came across the piece of dried seaweed. It struck me how much it resembled the piece I had just painted. I brought it back with me and made it into what you see here. I do love making art that is dimensional too.
